He is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Military History and Conflict Studies, United Service Institution of India, New Delhi. He has been studying the history and culture of Western Uttar Pradesh as well as recording and preserving the folk renditions of this rapidly urbanizing region. He is also studying various facets of the history of North-East India, the Uprising of 1857 and Military History of India between 1000 and 1803 AD. He is a practicing Radiologist focusing on Gastrointestinal Ultrasonography and Nephrology / Urology as well as interventional ultrasonography.
DR. AMIT PATHAK
He is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Military History and Conflict Studies (formerly Center for Armed Forces Historical Research), United Service Institution of India, New Delhi. He is fluent in Hindi, English, and Assamese and is an avid student of History, Culture, Archeology, Anthropology etc. He has been continuously working since 2001 on various aspects of the Great Uprising of 1857 and has been studying as well as documenting the history and culture of Western Uttar Pradesh. He has also been recording and preserving the oral as well as documented folk renditions of this rapidly urbanizing region. He has many publications to his credit in the above fields of study including four books on history and culture. At present, he is working on books linked to the Military History of India (1000AD to 1800 AD), 1857 Uprising in Western Uttar Pradesh, and the anti-colonial Uprisings of North- Eastern India. He is a practicing Radiologist focusing on Gastrointestinal Ultrasonography and Nephrology / Urology as well as interventional ultrasonography. He has many publications to his credit in this field and is at present working on a book on Hepato-Biliary Ultrasonography.
Author of the following books: ‘Revolution of 1857 and Meerut’ (First published account of Uprising in Meerut), ‘1857! Living History’ (Published by Govt. Museum, Jhansi), `History and Culture of Western Uttar Pradesh’ and `Alha Udal Ballad Rendition of Western Uttar Pradesh’ (Published by the United Service Institution of India). Dr. Amit Pathak is also the director and scriptwriter of the documentary `A Soldier Never Dies’.
